Housing and Settlement Studies

Scope

Housing and Settlement Studies represent a critical research domain which focuses on understanding residential environments through the lenses of housing provision, living conditions, and settlement dynamics within both formal and informal contexts. Emphasis is placed on issues such as housing affordability, student and rental accommodation, shared living arrangements, and the performance of government-funded housing projects, particularly in urban and peri-urban settings. The theme also addresses post-disaster housing and relocation challenges, examining behavioral responses and policy implications in resettlement processes. Through empirical and case-based research, CRES aims to generate insights that inform housing policy, improve residential satisfaction, and support the development of practical, context-specific solutions for enhancing the quality and functionality of living environments in Sri Lanka.
