The Centre for Real Estate Studies (CRES) organized a field visit to the proposed site of the Galle Multimodal Centre (GMMC) located in Dewata, Galle. The visit was designed to examine the development potential of the site, with particular emphasis on regional and local market conditions, locational attributes, mobility and accessibility considerations, and stakeholder perceptions. As part of the field-based learning component, a perception survey was conducted to capture insights from relevant stakeholders.

CRES facilitated the visit by coordinating and engaging external resource persons, whose professional expertise and insights significantly enhanced the participants’ understanding of multimodal transport infrastructure, urban development dynamics, and planning considerations. This active involvement of CRES is expected to have strengthened industry–academia collaboration and contributed meaningfully to the overall success and learning outcomes of the field visit.
