The Centre for Real Estate Studies signed the agreement with the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development to undertake the consultancy project: “Preparation of Comprehensive and Integrated Tourism Promotion & City Branding Plan for the City of Anuradhapura.”
Following the agreement signing, the official kick-off meeting and preliminary field visit for the project were successfully conducted on 7th and 8th May 2026 in Anuradhapura.
The programme commenced with receiving the blessings of the Atamasthanadhipathi, recognizing the religious and cultural significance of the sacred city of Anuradhapura.
The kick-off meeting was organized by CRES together with the Urban Development Authority, Anuradhapura Office. Political leaders, Anuradhapura Municipal Council, Department of Archaeology, Irrigation Department, Central Cultural Fund, and the Anuradhapura Chamber of Commerce participated in the meeting. The participating institutions provided valuable institutional insights, recommendations, and guidance to the consultancy team during the preliminary discussions.
The project aims to formulate a comprehensive and integrated tourism promotion and city branding strategy that enhances the heritage value, tourism potential, cultural identity, and sustainable urban development of the City of Anuradhapura.
